Infertility

Understanding Infertility

Getting pregnant can be challenging for some: fertility is a complex matter that can depend on your age, health, lifestyle, and genetics. If you have been trying to conceive for over a year with no success, you may be experiencing infertility.

Our compassionate healthcare providers will evaluate your unique situation and identify any contributing factors. Once we uncover the cause of infertility, we can start exploring treatment options. We are leaders in the field of infertility and understand the emotional and psychological needs of someone who is trying to get pregnant. Together, we can work to achieve what you want most — a baby.

Causes of Infertility

Some common underlying issues that contribute to infertility include:

  • Endometriosis
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Miscarriage/recurrent miscarriage due to certain medical conditions
  • Pelvic abnormalities
  • Dysfunction of the ovaries
  • Premature failure of the ovaries

Testing & Diagnosis

If you have reasons to believe you are dealing with infertility, our specialists will recommend complete fertility testing.

Tests to evaluate female fertility may include blood tests, an endometrial biopsy, and various imaging techniques to evaluate your reproductive organs, such as a hysterosalpingogram, hystersonogram, or hysteroscopy.

Male fertility can be evaluated through a comprehensive semen analysis, a Sperm DNA Fragmentation Assay (SDFA), or a urologic evaluation.

Treatment

Based on your test results, we will recommend a personalized treatment plan. Our approach may also depend on your age, how long you’ve been trying to conceive, and your personal preferences. We may need to treat just one partner or both.

Most people with infertility have a good chance of achieving pregnancy. Current treatment options have a high likelihood of success. Options include medication, surgery, assisted reproductive technology, intrauterine insemination (IUI), and in vitro fertilization (IVF).

We may recommend just one of these options or a mix of methods.
